New York Rules is a compilation tape put out this year by Burn Books.
It features 2 songs respectively from 8 bands, some you may know already and others may be new for your dirty ears. I had only heard half of the bands myself, and I am really liking the ones that I hadn't.

Overall this tape has a good mix of sounds that are: rockin', hardcore punk, punk with surf sounding guitars, psychedelic rock and creep punks.
A bit of everything really, which is what a compilation tape should be.

Nomos - Notes From The Acheron

1. A Witness
2. Changeling
3. O Fortuna
4. Mendicant
5. Pharmakon
6. The Fall
7. Vertical Slum (Swell Maps)

Here is the latest release from Brooklyn's Nomos.
Notes From The Acheron is a one-sided 12" with an etched b-side which is out on Deranged Records. On this they deliver six songs of their own and one cover to finish off the a-side.
All songs finish under the two-minute mark. Nothing ground breaking on this release to be honest, but all in all it is a solid release of fast hardcore punk and still enjoyable.

Nomos - Demo 7"

1. The Most Dangerous Game
2. Salvation
3. Pax
4. Operation Cyclone
5. The Cunning of Nature
6. Homo Homini Lupus

Here is the demo 7" from the New York band Nomos.
Short and sweet would be a good way to describe this band.
Only one song on this breaks the 2minute barrier.
Influenced by the likes of Poison Idea, Void, Antidote, Citizen's Arrest, No Comment, and Infest.
This was originally released as a cassette but was then pressed as a 7" by deranged records. They have a 12" coming out very soon on deranged records.
